Global Agrochem Industry in transition
The first grand Agrochem event of the year, the 18th China
International Agrochemical & Corp Protection Exhibition 2017 opened at the Shanghai
New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in Shanghai .
The three-day CAC trade show started on 1st March with
both exhibitors and visitors as enthusiastic as ever.
"Companies are embracing the spring of agrochem
industry," said Shousheng Li, President, China Petroleum and Chemical
Industry Federation, when he visited the booths of several industry players on
the opening day.
Many delegates spoke about the importance of the
subject and the changing scenario. "The zero growth target of agrochem
consumption set by Chinese government benefits us because a more regulated
market is good for the development of companies that comply with rules," a
representative from Nanjing Red Sun Co. Ltd. said.
The organizers expressed their warm welcome to the leaders,
guests, exhibitors and visitors who were present in large numbers. They also
expressed their sincere gratitude to relative departments supporting CAC for so
many years.
Over 1300 companies from 25 countries and regions
exhibited their products and equipments this year, marking a 13 percent
increase compared to last year. Among them were 145 overseas companies, 12 per
cent more than last year. The total
exhibiting space reached 73,000 sq. m., that is an increase of 18 percent.
Among the country pavilions was one from India . There
were others from Korea , Vietnam , Thailand ,
Pakistan , Australia and Turkey , all of them participating
in CAC with their exhibits to conduct their business activities. The exhibition
is estimated to have drawn 30,000 professional visitors from more than 100
countries.
An exhibition hall dedicated to equipments, Hall E7, was new to the CAC events this year. It had attracted over 300 exhibitors covering drying, granulation, vacuum, valve, metering, and other processes.
A specialized seminar for equipment business was also held on Day 1 of the event to discuss the technological issues as well as the industry outlook.
Zhejiang province-based Wynca had initiated the
development of pesticides specialized for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UASs), aka
drones, that put more efforts on pesticide preparations, and extended the
overseas business to a broader geographical coverage. A representative from the
company explained how they adapted to the "zero growth" policy.
The state owned Sinochem took full advantage of the
synergies of its business along side the industry chain of agrochems, esp. the
company's unique strength in research and development, a representative from
Sinochem said.
"Value addition of agrochem industry and
fertilizer industry increased by 10.8 percent and 3.6 percent in 2016,
respectively," said Jungui Zhao, Vice
President , China
Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) at the welcome dinner of the
CAC events.
"Investment and export, the traditional driving
force of the industry, got weakened, and the industry faced a structural
problem instead of one of a cyclical nature," Zhao commented on the
chemical industry. The analysis worked on the agrochem industry too.
As is well known, the Global Agrochemical Industry is
restructuring and there are continuous mergers and acquisitions and new market
formations. CAC followed the development of agrochemical industry and bore the
responsibility of building global agrochemical communication platform, by
establishing full-scale demonstrating space, promoting global trade, technical
communication, technical and capital cooperation, publishing policies and
market trend. In the 11th China International Forum on Development of Pesticide
Industry, experts from different parts of the world communicated with 500
delegates on industry policies, trends and markets. Spread over three days,
many seminars and conferences were held..
CAC Awards
5th
CAC Awards that was organized as part of the event included the categories of
top 20 Chinese Pesticides Exporters, 2016 Oversea Market Expansion Award, CAC
2017 Recommended Suppliers and 2016 Excellent Fertilizer Exporters. The results
were revealed later in the day. The awards attracted the enrollment of more
than 100 enterprises, and more than 100,000 participants took part in voting.
CAC set up
Pesticide Zone, Fertilizer Zone and Overseas Pavilion in Hall N1 to N5 at
Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
The "Sino-Vietnam
Pesticide Administrations and Entrepreneurs Meeting" that took place in
the Exposition Center was sponsored by the CAC fair
sponsor -- CCPIT Sub-Council of Chemistry Industry. Another get-together was between
the Chinese and Vietnamese agro chemical fellows after the 13th (Vietnam)
Chemical Exhibition, that aimed to strengthen the two countries' cooperation in
the agrochemical field through exchanges.
World Agrochemical Equipment Industry Chain Sharing
Conference
With the agrochemical industry's market
reform and growth, and in order to better serve the global agrochemical
preparations enterprise,
The World Agrochemical Equipment Industry-Chain
Sharing Conference, organized by CCPIT Sub-Council of Chemical Industry, and
supported by Jiangsu Jinwang Packing
Machinery Co., Ltd. and Changhou
Agrochemical Sphere E-business Co., Ltd., opened in the banquet hall in
Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai.
This conference invited Dr. Qiu Dewen,
Deputy Director General, Institute of Plant Protection (IPP) of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science (CAAS), Li
Jianqiang, Deputy Director, Graduate College of China Agricultural University,
Zhang Wenjun, Director, Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of
Agriculture (ICAMA), and Wu Zhenyi, Chief Engineer of Central Research
Institute of China Chemical Science and Technology (CRICC). Leng Yang, Shanghai
Pesticide Research Institute and distinguished guests from other leading
research institutes, and senior executives of domestic and world renowned
agrochemical and equipment companies such as Dow Chemical, Shenyang Sinochem,
Jiangsu Renxin, Guangzhou Longi, as well as overseas experts from Vietnam,
Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Argentina etc. were other invitees. Over 300 delegates got an idea on how to grasp
opportunities in the new environment and situation, and boost the building of
the global agrochemical preparation production equipment industry-chain.
Ma Chunyan, Vice Chairman of CCPIT
Sub-Council of Chemical Industry, in her opening speech, hoped that companies would
seek mutual support and remedy with respective advantages and build a
joint-innovation sharing platform for the agrochemical equipment industry-chain
and create more profit space for producers and produce higher quality products for
world agriculture.
Fang Guorong, president of Jiangsu Jinwang
Packing Machinery Technology Co., Ltd elaborated his idea of “New era of
inter-connection, Sharing agrochemical sphere.” He said the agrochemical sphere
is bound to become the cooperative and joint-victory platform for agrochemical
industries-chain.
The conference concluded with delegates saying
that they gained a lot from the presentations by various experts and in-depth
discussions.
Future
Direction of Pesticide Preparations
At the 9th World Academic
Meeting for the Development of Pesticide Technologies & Applications,
LengYang, who was the key speaker said, Chinese administration of pesticides is
adapting to global practices. “Chinese pesticide preparations must respond to
the call of the era and expedite the structural adjustment and technical
innovation, and sharply increase the safely and function level.”
Chinese pesticide producers will face the
severest regulation in history, including regulations on food security, water
source, atmosphere, soil, ecological protection, and public security. Reviewing
the technical development over the past ten years in the world, Leng Yang
summarized the trends of pesticide preparations as high conductance, low VOC,
low spraying solution, anti-drift, and smart release. Such preparations are
both efficient and safe.
In a technical report presented at the
meeting, LengYang said that seed treatment agent is one hot spot in pesticide
preparation product development, and the future competition will be fiercer. Another
hot spot preparation, micro-encapsulate, will enter the era of large scale
result transformation.
Bio-pesticide preparations are evidently
another field for the future. Non-agricultural products such as sanitary drug,
industrial mildew-proof, fishery and live-stock industry parasite-pesticide
will account for 15-20% of the pesticide preparations market.
